Peekskill says goodbye to Calvin Baisley

    Calvin Baisley, a lifetime Peekskill resident, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at the age of 82. He was born on Nov. 7, 1934 to Arthur and Katherine Matlock Baisley.

    He graduated from Peekskill High School in 1952 and worked for Feldman News in Peekskill. For many years, he owned and operated Baisley’s Market in Peekskill. On Sept. 2, 1956, he married Dolores Dorsey. She predeceased him in January 2009.

    Calvin loved his dogs (Filo and Betto) and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Yankees. He is survived by his sons Calvin (Susan), Jon (Jan), Glen (Sharon), Scott, Mickey and Darin Baisley, daughter Barbara (Lenny) Varella, 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, nephew Robert Wheeler and many other nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Arthur, and sister, Mildred Marallo.

    Visitation will take place between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m. and 7 and 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, at Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home, located at 1100 Cortlandt Street in Peekskill. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 15, at the funeral home. A burial at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor will take place at a later date.
